The PAWS Shelter Foundation released a hard cover photo book highlighting many of our beloved local pets on December 2, 2012. The book release party was held at Sam Russell’s Pet Provisions to honor the generous donors and participants.
Over 150 community pets are featured including dogs, cats, horses, and donkeys. Sixty-eight pets that have been adopted from an animal shelter or rescued from an unfortunate situation are pictured.
Local professional photographers were commissioned to take photos. They donated their time and creativity to make the PAWS Forever book a keepsake that can be enjoyed for years. These books will make wonderful gifts for family, friends, clients, and employees. Books will be available for $35. They are being sold at Sam Russell’s Pet Provisions and Tootsie’s in Woodland Gallery.
The PAWS Forever book will be the largest fundraiser this year for the PAWS Shelter Foundation and proceeds will go towards the building of the new Hardin County Animal Shelter. A building has been purchased at 220 Peterson Drive and construction has started. Moving to this new 14,000 sq ft shelter will increase capacity to house stray pets and expand rescue efforts immensely in the community.
PAWS objectives for providing the community with a new animal shelter are; to increase space for homeless animals waiting for adoption, to increase the number of pets that are adopted into loving homes, to provide a better facility with a ventilation system that will cut down on the spread of disease, and to reduce euthanasia by increasing kennel space for homeless animals.
